Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has appointed Vijay's mother Shoba Chandrasekhar as the Artistic Heritage Consultant for all the Government Music schools in Tamil Nadu. She will work towards the improvement of education standards in these schools. Shoba Chandrasekhar will now head music schools in over 17 districts which includes Tirunelveli, Trichy, Salem, Pudukottai, Tiruvarur, Cuddalore Karur, Kanchipuram, Sivagangai, Krishnagiri and Erode.
